Onicon’s BTU meters utilize a calibrated system approach to provide highly accurate flow, temperature and energy data. Further more with a serial network communication option, this system can actually be less expensive than traditional energy calculation methods.

BTU meters configured with serial network communications offer simplified wiring and greatly reduced installation cost compared to traditional analog/pulse type outputs. The data provided (with a single 2-3 wire LAN connection) includes: energy total, energy rate, flow total, flow rate, supply temperature, and return temperature, delta temperature.

The distribution of conditioned air is still the primary means of heating and cooling most commercial buildings today. 4. Outdoor airflow Monitoring

Controlling the amount of outside air entering a building is required to maintain pressurization, meet energy efficiency goals, confirm compliance with local building codes and maintain the health of the building and its’ occupants. The accurate measurement of outside airflow is required for the proper operation of today’s high performance buildings. Outside air can pose a challenge regarding the metering technology to choose due to low airflow velocities, high moisture content in certain climates and the presence of airborne contaminants at the point of measure. Proper pressurization of buildings and indoor spaces is a crucial component required for the management of indoor air quality, maximizing energy efficiency and maintaining occupant health and comfort. Lack of control in regards to pressurization can lead to a host of problems including the infiltration of moisture, cold winter or hot summer drafts and doors that are difficult to open or slam shut. 1. Fan Tracking For Building Pressurization

Proper fan tracking requires the accurate measurement of the entire airflow system including supply and return air, outside air and relief air, all of which are required to maintain proper air balance and thus control the building pressurization. Airflow measurement, which can be achieved through fan tracking, is a much more effective and accurate means of maintaining building pressurization when compared to static pressure measurements made throughout an entire building.
